When you own a home in the Costa Blanca there will be plenty to do and with the warm weather and sunshine that we have almost every day of the year outdoor activities are plentiful. For many of us swimming, walking, yoga, padel or perhaps a dance class will more than satisfy our energy needs. However, if you are more of an adrenaline junkie then there are also lots of opportunities for adventures and experiences with more extreme sports.
This sport is similar to waterskiing and surfing where you stand on a board and pulled through the water a boat, you are attached to the boat with a cable and will be required to wear a wetsuit, life jacket and helmet. This sport is available from the Cable Ski school in Benidorm which has been organising water sport activities for almost 60 years.
If your whole family do not want to participate in this activity other members of your party can also enjoy visiting the town of Alcoy / Alcoi, a town located about one and a half hours drive from the Northern Costa Blanca towns. The town is well worth a visit with its Archaeological Museum and historic centre and is located between two nature reserves the Serra de Mariola and Font Roja. It is an ideal location for adventure sport and close to the town you will climb high bridge to participate in your chosen jump, you can choose which type and height of fall you wish to try. In addition, for those who prefer a less frightening adventure the Outdoor Bungee centre also offer Paintballing and Laser Tag games.
Flyboarding is an exciting water sport which gives you a real sense of freedom as you are elevated several feet above the sea by jets of water shooting out from your hoverboard boots. You can enjoy this experience very close to home as Todo Adventure offers this sport in Javea and Altea.
For those who have a head for flights what better way could there be to view the beautiful Mediterranean coastline than from the sky. Parasailing fights from Moraira start with a relaxing boat ride for up to 6 people and include a soft drink, you will be safely equipped and monitored at all times with a safety seat, harness and life jacket. The boat journey will be between 1 and 2 hours and the actual flight will last about 20 minutes.
From the mountains behind Benidorm, you can fly like a bird climbing up to more than 1000 metres with the most amazing views across the Costa Blanca. You will receive expert tuition and can fly in tandem with an instructor. The flight last about 20 to 30 minutes depending upon the thermals on the day.
There are many places where you can enjoy a climbing experience in the Costa Blanca, the limestone cliffs and mountains that give the area the name – White Coast – offer several routes from alpine like mountain routes, to sea cliffs, gorges and the iconic Calpe rock. You may wish to challenge yourself to completing the Costa Blanca big five which are: - Sierra de Toix, Ifach, Bernia ridge, Mascarat gorge, Puig Campaña and the Barranco del Infierno Gorge. There are many other great places to climb locally and several rock-climbing clubs so that you can ensure safety and companionship with fellow experience enthusiasts. Xabia Activa are a licensed active-tourism business who offer climbing experiences and other sports
Xabia Activa also offer coasteering which combines rock climbing with jumping into the water and followed by snorkelling and cave exploration.
There are, of course, many other activities available both on land and sea and for those who live in the Costa Blanca all are within easy reach of home. In most cases there will be something more subdued available for less adventurous members of your family and friends if you all fancy an outing. However, you should book any excursions with a reputable provider, that they have the correct licenses, insurances and safety equipment and also ensure that you are adequately insured too.
