What’s on in March in Jalon?

Jalon Almond Blossom - Hamiltons Of London

The weather is warming up, the days are becoming longer and colour fills the valley as the almond trees burst into bloom an attraction that draws people to visit the area every year. The pink and white blossoms area sight to see and throughout the area there are often spring festivals taking place. In Parcent carnival time is in full flow with fancy costumes, music, childrens events including a mini disco and lots of food to enjoy – here is the program for this year:-

Parcent Carnival – Jalon Valley – 1ST – 4TH March 2025

Saturday 1st

  • 5:00 pm – Costume Parade with music
  • 6:00 pm – arrival at the square, “Tardeo” in the marquee with the Parcent Charanga Band follwoed by DJ Oscar.

There will also be a bar service and dinner provided by the festifal committee.

Sunday 2nd

  • 5:00 pm – Carnival Hot Chocolate Party in the Town Square.

Enjoy this delicious Hot Chocolate and party with other families in the town square. Boys and girls under 12 years old will then be able to enjoy traditional Piñatas which can be reserved for your child at the Town Hall before 21st February.

Tuesday 4th
3:00 pm – Children’s Parade Organised by the El Carrascal School of Parcent and followed by a mini-disco in the Town Square.

Other local towns both inland and along the coast will be celebrating the vibrancy of carnival time in the Costa Blanca.

Denia Fallas 2025

Denia Fallas 2025 - Hamiltons Of London

Meanwhile on the Coast in Denia the Fallas festival will be taking place well into the month with parades showing off the incredible, satirical, papier mache sculptures as well as an opportunity to see particpants in traditional local and historical costumes. The Fallas continue until St Joseph’s day on March 19th which is a holiday in the region of Valencia with the main celebrations taking place from 17th March. During this time the streets are full of colour, music, and these incredible creations with firecrackers and fireworks all celebrating the arrival of spring.  The final day concludes with Mass and offering of flowers to the Mare de Deu, processions in national dress and the eventual burning of the papier mache statues that had taken most of the year to create. Other towns do celebrate St Jospeh and spring but, in the Costa Blanca Denia is one of the main places to see this incredible tradition and spectacle.

Spring Re-Opening

Jalon Valley and the towns therein begin a spring-time reawakening with the recommencement of regular Rastro flee market every Saturday and it’s a great time to visit the wine and olive oil bodegas. Local farmers will be sowing spring seeds and preparing for birthing any livestock, many are happy to receive assistance from local volunteers if you would like to be involved.
