People living in the Costa Blanca benefit greatly from the health promoting mild climate and wonderful Mediterranean diet. However, if you feel the need for a more intense wellness experience there are plenty of retreats and spas in the area where you can take time out for a short break without travelling too far from home.
You might even be within walking distance of one of the Ritual de Terra Resort and Spa hotels and residences located in Javea and Moraira. Here you can start unwinding immediately without the stress of a long journey and the hotel facilities include a steam room, sauna, thermal pool, swimming pool and hot tub and you can also be pampered with a choice of massages, therapies, facials and body treatments. Another local hotel worth considering is Denia Marriott hotel which is perfect for golfers to enjoy their sport and to unwind following a round or two. It is also an excellent place for others to indulge in the hotel’s spa facilities, La Sella Spa offers full-body treatments, physiotherapy, facials as well as a hydrotherapy pool.
The Sol y Mar Gran Hotel in Calpe overlooks the sea and Ifach rock in the centre next to the Arenal Beach but, tranquillity can be found in this hotel at their spa with plenty of treatments available as well as steam room, yoga classes and a gym with personal trainers available as well as fitness classes.
Just past Benidorm is the lovely town of Finestrat and here you can escape to the Asia Gardens Hotel and Thai Spa. Here as well as massages and other treatments you can enjoy the Hammam, Solarium, Fitness centre and Yoga classes. This unique retreat has massages which are performed in traditional stilt houses set among the tranquil gardens with various Asian inspired and infinity pools. The hotel also offers a children’s club so that families can also enjoy the facilities and parents can have some time to recharge with one of the treatments or fitness classes.
If you want a more complete get away experience the Alannia Wellness group has resorts in along the Spanish Coast. If you don’t wish to travel too far but still want to feel as though you are away from home, in the Alicante Province they have resorts in Crevillent and Guardamar. Alternatively, a short drive further north past Valencia they offer spa and wellness retreats in the Province of Tarragona in Salou, El Prats and Almadrava. These resorts have spas, tropical pools, sports facilities and clubs for children and teenagers. Some of their resorts also offer pitches for those who prefer to camp and at the Guadamar location they have glamping which allows you the freedom to choose the type of accommodation you prefer.

f you take a drive south past Alicante to the region of Murcia, you will find spas that have indoor and outdoor pools fed by hot springs. One of the primary attractions in the area is the Mar Menor Lagoon which is rich in minerals which are believed to have healing properties, here you can visit Las Salinas de San Pedro del Pinatur where they have the largest open area for therapeutic mud treatments in Europe. Here they also provide treatments with other marine resources including seaweed and seawater, the Centro de Talasoterapia y Spa Lodomar has a heated pool with water from the Salinas. You can also buy some of the mud here to take home and pamper yourself. There are several hotels in the area to chose from and plenty of these will also offer wellness and spa treatments.
There are, of course, many more retreats and hotels throughout Spain which offer treatments, therapies and wellness programs, far too many to mention here. The benefits of buying a property in the Costa Blanca are once again clear, whether you wish to travel or stay close to home you will be able to participate in wellness clinics and have a pampering spa very easily and, if you don’t have time for a get away immediately, many of the local centres will have day passes that can be purchased to use on a day off from your busy schedule.
