Flamenco, Tapas and More

Flamenco Seville | Hamiltons Of London

At the heart of the historic city of Seville is the beat of the flamenco rhythm with the incredible guitar playing, passionate dances and singing and beating for the drums. This dance was born in Seville and witnessing it here, whether at a tablao (flamenco venue) or a spontaneous street performance is a memorable experience. Although not confirmed it is thought that tapas were originally a small plate of food designed so that the plate could cover your glass protecting its contents from insects in the summer. The Spanish verb tapar means to cover. This is why in some areas a tapa will be served with every drink. Seville is full of excellent tapas bars and wandering between these to sample the Jamon Iberico, garlic prawns, patatas bravas and more is a great way to pass the evening. Wash these tasty morsels down with a glass of locally produced Rioja or a refreshing small beer (caña). This great city atmosphere is a wonderful change from living in the Costa Blanca and, if you’re feeling a little extravagant, you might also want to sample a fine dining experience in a city that boasts Michelin star restaurants that offer innovative and traditional Andalusian dishes. The food markets are a great place to soak up the atmosphere of the city and sample local delicacies so add the Mercado Lonja de Barranco to your list of places to visit.
