With the weather getting hotter by the day, the sun shining and long cooler evenings July is a month when the Costa Blanca comes alive. The spirit of the summer is embraced in Spain with a great atmosphere and colourful festivals throughout the region offering those who buy a home in the Costa Blanca so much more than sun, sea and sand!!!
Fiesta is a great way for those buying property in the Costa Blanca to experience traditional festivals and immerse themselves into their new way of life. Colourful parades, live music, giant paellas, historical reenactments and spectacular firework displays are the order of the month. Although Moraira has already enjoyed their Moors and Christian Fiesta other towns are now preparing for theirs with Benissa completing their celebrations by honouring Saint Peter through into early July. Javea will provide a spectacular party for Moors and Christians in the middle of July with events organised by the residents of the town. The finale of these celebrations in July occure at the end of the month in the chocolate capital Villajoyosa with dramatic naval battles and the Moors landing on the beach, an event not to be missed.
Denia will be hosting the elaborate but, controversion tradition of the Bous a la Mar, this does involve activities with Bulls that many will find distressing but, there will be more to the program of events that all can enjoy so if your looking for property to buy in Denia keep yourself informed about what is happening and when. Those seeking to live in Moraira can celebrate the town’s patron saints the Virgen de los Desemparados and the Virgen del Carmen with street parties, processions, concerts and “mascletas” firecracker displays – if you don’t enjoy loud noisies be prepared!!! There are also two firework displays in Moraira that really shouldn’t be missed during this Festival, one involves a carefully choreographed display to music and the other one is the grand finale of the Grand Water Firework dispay following a maritime procession, the fireworks are launched from boats and pontoons creating marvelous reflections on the Mediterranean Sea. Other towns will also enjoy celebrating the Virgen del Carmen as the patron saint of fishermen and sailors and many coastal resorts will present maritime processions with decorated boats carrying a statue of the Virgen. The Costa Blanca have many people from other parts of Spain living here as well as expats and in July there is a wonderful event for those buying property in Calpe to enjoy when the town is transformed with the Andalusian Fair bringing the traditions of southern Spain to the town with riding and dressage displays, sound and light shows and of course lots of music and dancing.
Javea will hold some enjoyable parties too in July starting with the International Cultural Festival during the first week. The Fiesta begins with a parade of all the participating nations in traditional costumes from the port area to the Arenal. Stalls will be set up representing different nations and reflecting the multi-cultural inclusivity of the town with speciality food from various countries and live music and dance representing different traditions from the festivals representatives. This is a fun, family friendly occasion with a great atmosphere of unity and community. Those who buy property in Javea will also enjoy Summer Night at the end of the month with late night shopping, night markets, live music and familty activities including treasure hunts – another inclusive event for the whole family to enjoy.
It is not just the coastal towns that love to party in the summer months, during July Benimarco will celebrate Saint James with open air suppers shared by locals gathering in the square to share their homemade offerings while enjoying music and conversation. Traditional and humorous parades will be seen by those buying property in Benimarco and local bands will provide music with traditional dances to be enjoyed, like the rest of Spain no Fiesta will be complete with out stunning firework displays!!! There will be plenty of Saint day festivities in other inland villages during this time so whether you are living in the Jalon Valley or buying a home in the Orba area make sure you check notices and social media from your local town hall so that you don’t miss out!!!
