The Costa Blanca is somewhere people can be themselves and this diverse international community is open to making friends without judgement and enjoying the wonderful lifestyle that exists in this Mediterranean paradise.

This lively tourist resort has been a pioneer in both tourism in Spain as well as embracing diversity right from the beginning and this openness thrives from its transition from a small fishing village to a destination catering for international visitor which naturally formed an environment for individuality to thrive. At the heart of the action is the Rincon Gay in the Old Town where the network of narrow streets is full of vibrant bars and clubs that are full of energy both day and night. Here the atmosphere is welcoming to everyone but, specifically tailored to the LGBTQ+ community. This inclusiveness extends throughout Benidorm whether your sipping a cocktail, enjoying the beach or exploring the sites you will be made to feel comfortable and welcome and in September you can join with the fun and message of the towns Pride Festival. During the festival the town is an explosion of colour, joy, music and incredible costumes.

The liveliness of Benidorm is great but, you may also long for more tranquil days and nights, and this is equally possible, just on the outskirts and a short taxi ride away from the nightlife are the towns of Finestrat, Albir, Alfaz de Pi and Altea. These places allow you to be within easy reach of an evening out in the heart of the Benidorm nightlife while enjoying a slower pace of life at home. Those who are making the Marina Alta their permanent home will also find towns a little further from Benidorm but, still close enough to enjoy an occasional weekend there, are equally welcoming. Javea, Calpe, Moraira and Denia boast a more relaxed atmosphere with a growing LGBTQ+ community integrating easily into local life, cafes, restaurants and clientele are welcoming and help everyone to feel at ease and at home.
Valencia - has a small but lively LGBTQ+ nightlife scene centred around the Gayxample neighbourhood of the city where popular venues include The Muse, MCC Valencia and Caramel. The city holds various events during the year including the Circuit Festival in August and in 2026 they will be holding the Gay Games for international LGBTQ+ atheletes.
Alicante – The city has a vibrant LGBTQ+ community with its own organisations and social spaces, Diversitat LGTBI Alcant is a local non-profit organisation that works towards achieving full integration and organises social event for the community. The nightlife is centered around the Castro area with popular spots including Canibal Pub, La Cupula Azul and Lounge Buddha. In July the city holds its annual Price event with parades, performances and community gatherings.

Many LGBTQ+ people have chosen to live in the Costa Blanca, the region offers a relaxed pace of life with easy access to the cultural cities of Valencia and Alicante. The cost of living is reasonable compared to many other northern European countries, the Spanish healthcare system provides an excellent service for residents and of course, the weather is superb! Other residents are friendly and welcoming and in addition the growing LGBTQ+ community is supportive and offer plenty of opportunities to socialise and make friends.
Living in the Costa Blanca is wonderful not matter who you are, although there are specific places to meet other LGBTQ+ people, the community in general are welcoming and diverse within most towns. Spain is a progressive country with strong LGBTQ+ rights and, although some less accommodating attitudes may still exist in smaller towns, the Costa Blanca is generally proud to be inclusive.
