The beautiful region of the Costa Blanca has inspired many writers and there are a number of books that those who move here might enjoy. When you buy a house in the Costa Blanca being able to spend time outside is part of the experience and, whatever your taste in literature, it can be fun to read a novel that is set in the place where you now live and there are several works of fiction set on the Costa Blanca or in other Spanish regions.

He will take you through some of the more frustrating bureaucratic red tape that we all experience whenever we move in such a way that you will start to accept that these things can be funny. It will help you to be less frustrated with obstacles that you may come across when moving to Spain, like the roofer who is afraid of heights! The book will take you through the struggles of their first year living in the Costa Blanca including attempts to learn the language and adapt to local customs. There are no regrets once hurdles have been surpassed and it is a heartwarming lesson in navigating your new life when you buy a house in the Costa Blanca.

It explores their journey renovating this ramshackle farmhouse and focuses on becoming accustomed to the quirks of rural life in a small Spanish village. A Parrot in a Pepper Tree Starts where Chris Stewarts’ previous book finished and continues the story of the family’s life in Spain when their feathered friend joins their household. The Almond Blossom Appreciation Society Is the last of the trilogy and continues the adventures of the family’s amusing antics and life in Spain.

Local Literature

It is also fun to explore some Spanish authors many of whom have been fascinated by the Costa Blanca and whose work will offer a deeper understanding of the regions culture and history, see if you can find some translated works for authors who were born in the region to give you a unique perspective about the Costa Blanca and its people. There are plays be Gabriel Miro who was a play write born in Alicante or Valencian born Vicente Blasco, although best known for historical works like The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse he also wrote a novel called Rice and Carriage which shows the history, culture and society of Valencia and the Costa Blanca region during his lifetime (1867-1928).
