Hamiltons Guide - What’s On In the Costa Blanca in September?

Our Hamiltons Real Estate team love to inspire our customers who are hoping to buy a property in this beautiful region. Something that we hope helps them get to know their potential new home towns better is knowing what events are taking place. By joining in with these, those seeking property for sale in the Costa Blanca can begin to integrate with the local communmity and become familiar with local history and tradtions.

September in the Mediterranean

The Costa Blanca is a great place to be all year round but, September is particularly lovely. The crowds begin to thin and summer holidays finish and the coastal towns from Altea to Denia return to local inhabitants to enjoy the still sunny but, refreshingly, cooler days following the intense heat of the previous couple of months. The sea and pools remain warm so enjoying a swim of some water sports is still something that can be enjoyed. It is also a great time to recomence other outdoor activities exploring the local countryside and hills either on foot or by bike.

Party with the Locals

  • Mare de Déu de Loreto JaveaAnyone who has just moved to or who are currently searching for a property for sale in Javea will enjoy the colourful processions and live music which accompany the honouring for the town patron saint of the sea. However, those wishing to participate should ensure they are aware of the full program in case they wish to avoid  the controversial Spanish tradition of “bulls to the sea”. There are plenty of other events to enjoy during this fiesta which begins at the end of August and continues until 8th September. There are plenty of family activities, including processions and floats, junior fishing competitions, races, music, games, drinks and food.
  • Moors and Christians Altea: There isn’t a town in this region that doesn’t celebrate this historic event at some point in the year. Commemorating the period in Spanish history when the Moors invaded and occupied the Peninsula for several centuries until it was re-claimed by the Christians there are re-enactments, spectacular costumes, parades and a wonderful atmosphere with music and fireworks too.
  • Virgen del Rocio and Virgen de la Merced Calpe: These festivals incorperate both local religious and cultural traditions with pigramages, traditional activities including musical performances, religious ceremonies and special children’s events.
  • Cala Finestrat Festival: This mid-September Fiesta brings a lively party to the beachside of Cala Finestrat with live music, communal paella competitions, children’s activities, parades, a masked ball and fireworks. The Fiesta honours the areas economic importance as a tourist desitantion.
  • Dna Fesitval Denia: is a major event in the Mediterranian gastronmic calendar celebrating local cuisine and produce. It was founded by Michelin star chef Quique Dacosta and takes place lat in September. The Fiesta include cooking demonstrations, workshops, tastings and a local produce market along the Marineta Cassiana promenade. Along with trying the delicious dishes and tapas of the area there are also locally produced wines to taste, a kids zone and live music.

Enjoying the Costa Blanca in September

When you buy a property in the Costa Blanca there is always something happening within a short distance of your home. September is not just about parties and parades but, also about exploring the area and getting to know the local villages and walking through the nature parks or enjoy boat trips and water activities.
