Music in Moraira

Moraira is a great place for music lovers and musicians. This beautiful Mediterranean town is popular with both, and there is always something happening throughout the year. In addition to the bands that perform during the fiesta parades, a stage is often set up beside the Castle for live music following many events. Throughout the summer, from June into July, there is an excellent programme of entertainment for residents and visitors alike.

Popular Music Venues

Several bars and restaurants regularly offer live music and tribute bands. Among these are Momo's Café Bar, which has live music most Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during the late afternoon. You can simply enjoy a drink or stay for a meal featuring freshly cooked barbecued meats. Café y Vinobar La Experiencia hosts smaller groups, providing the perfect background music for an evening cocktail in the centre of Moraira.

The lively Floridita regularly features live bands and karaoke, making it a popular choice for late-night entertainment in the heart of the town. Saxo also offers early evening tribute acts, live bands and its well-known Monday open mic sessions with the Brink Band, where local musicians and singers are often invited to perform alongside the group. Later in the evening, Saxo offers chill-out areas, an indoor dance floor and occasional themed parties. Their latest entertainment schedule can always be found on their website.

Classical and Choral Music

Moraira and Teulada both have excellent auditoriums where a variety of concerts, ballets, operas and theatrical performances are staged throughout the year. Several local choirs also perform regularly and, if you enjoy singing, are always pleased to welcome new members. Whatever your musical taste, you are sure to find something to enjoy when you buy a property in Moraira, and the range of performances continues to grow each year.

What Brings Musicians to Live in Moraira?

At Hamiltons Real Estate, formerly Hamiltons of London, our team is fortunate to know many of Moraira's talented local musicians. We spoke to some of them to discover how they came to be living on the Costa Blanca and why they have chosen to make this beautiful area their home. These artists regularly perform throughout the Marina Alta and can often be seen entertaining audiences at many of the venues mentioned above.

Joe Wilkinson

Joe's family decided to move to Spain when he and his brother were still at school after becoming concerned about the education they were receiving in Bournemouth. They settled on the Costa Blanca, where the brothers attended Lady Elizabeth School, flourished academically and Joe later went on to university.

Joe and his family are now permanent residents of Moraira and have never regretted their decision to move. An accomplished singer-songwriter, Joe performs his own original guitar and vocal compositions at hundreds of venues between Dénia, Benidorm and beyond. He is a regular favourite at Café y Vinobar La Experiencia as well as many other local venues. Joe has built a loyal social media following, one of his singles reached number one in the Voice FM Chart Show, several have received BBC radio airplay and he continues to tour both Spain and Europe.

Since this was first written Joe and his lovely partner have become proud parents of a beautiful baby boy!

The Tender Caves – Jade Poli, Vocalist

Jade Poli was a wonderfully talented young vocalist whose family moved to Spain almost by accident. While studying vocals at university in Manchester, Jade's family settled in Moraira after falling in love with the area. Following the pandemic, Jade joined them on the Costa Blanca.

Local music legend Andre had a remarkable eye for talent and created The Tender Caves, inviting Jade to become the band's vocalist. The group quickly became a popular part of the local music scene, performing regularly throughout Moraira and the surrounding towns. One of their highlights was appearing on stage at the annual Moraira Music Festival, helping to open the town's fiesta celebrations.

Tragically, Jade passed away in July 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer, aged just 25. Her beautiful voice, enthusiasm and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She is remembered with great affection by her family, friends, fellow musicians and the wider Moraira community, and we are honoured to have featured her in this article.

Mystery Machine and Culture Shock – Jude, Steve and Co.

Jude moved to the Costa Blanca on a whim after a holiday in Javea. Sitting on the beach with her family, they made the life-changing decision to sell their business and home in the UK and move to Spain. They found a plot of land in Javea, built their dream villa and, a year later, were enjoying their new life on the Costa Blanca.

Steve already ran an online business, which meant he could continue working from Spain. It was here that they formed a band called MP7, performing in bars, restaurants and local festivals for several years.

After taking a short break from music, they moved to the beautiful town of Moraira. Inspired by the growing local music scene, Steve, an accomplished guitarist, returned to performing and joined a local band. His musical direction later evolved, and together with other talented local musicians he helped form the Indie rock band Mystery Machine, which has become a firm favourite at local venues and festivals. Despite a few changes in the line-up over the years, the band has continued to go from strength to strength with their charismatic lead singer, Jo. However, following the retirement of their drummer in 2025, Mystery Machine reformed as Phoenix Rising. The band continues to perform successfully throughout the Costa Blanca, with Steve still on guitar and vocals, including at this May's Vive Festival in Moraira.

Music remains a huge part of their lives, and Steve and his vocalist partner Jude also perform together as the duo Culture Shock. Both acts have built an excellent local following with varied repertoires and regularly perform throughout the Costa Blanca.

Conclusion

As you can see, when you buy a villa in Moraira, there is no shortage of live entertainment to enjoy throughout the year. Whether your taste is rock, pop, jazz, classical, choral music or tribute bands, there is always something happening. If you are a musician yourself, you will also find a welcoming community that is always keen to encourage and support local talent.
