Buying A Property In Spain - February in the Costa Blanca North

February in Costa Blanca

February is when the Costa Blanca already starts to say goodbye to winter as spring approaches. The temperature is cool enough to enjoy cycling and hiking, but it is still remarkably mild and mostly sunny. It is a lovely time of year with trees starting to blossom and a good time to see what the area is like “off-season” if you are looking for a permanent home for sale in the Costa Blanca.

Celebrations

For various reasons, the Spanish love fiestas, which occur throughout the year in towns along the coast. February is no exception, and with many Chinese restaurants now established in the region, February 10th, 2024, will see many residents joining in to celebrate this event. Most restaurants will offer a special menu, live music, and fireworks for a set price. Finding a home for sale in the Costa Blanca allows you to embrace and experience the traditions of many nationalities who have made this beautiful part of Spain their home.

The Latin nations are famous for their romance, so Valentine's Day is the next celebration to enjoy with a variety of excellent dining options to enjoy with your loved one. At this time, towns will also start to celebrate Almond Blossom Festivals, with events organized by the Costa Blanca Mountain Walkers and a party with parades, music, and traditional food held in the pretty hilltop town of Guadalest. Wherever you have chosen to buy a villa in the Costa Blanca, these events are just a short drive away.

Following St. Valentine's Day, Carnival time arrives in the region, with most towns organizing costume parades for children and students, family activities and workshops, snacks, drinks, live music, and prizes for the funniest and most original costumes.

 Denia Fallas

The larger town of Denia is a great place to visit during the traditional festival of the Fallas, which in 2024 will be held toward the end of February and carries on into March, finishing on St Josephs’s day March 16th. The preparation celebrates the art of carpentry and its patron, Saint Joseph. The construction of large papier-mache caricatures, often with a political message, is done by local groups. Parades with the Fallas happen throughout the streets, and you will see many people wearing lovely national costumes and performing traditional dances.

Places to visit

As previously mentioned, Guadalest enjoys celebrating the blossoming of the almond trees, but it is a lovely town to visit at this time of year when the medieval streets are less crowded or enjoy the art galleries in Altea. When you are looking for a property for sale on the Costa Blanca, there will always be plenty of lovely towns and villages to explore.

Start a New Hobby and make new friends.

Many clubs start their new season with performing arts, yoga, dancing, and Spanish classes, starting their courses for all capabilities. It’s also a great time to play golf with plenty of courses available throughout the region offering lessons for beginners and membership to players. The weather in February is great for outdoor activities; neither too hot or too cold during the day with plenty of sun and not much rain. This will make finding a home for sale on the Costa Blanca even more appealing.

Local Produce

February is a great time of the year to explore the local markets, sourcing fresh produce and seasonal ingredients or sample the local dishes made from them with a reasonably priced menu del dia. Enjoy the local seafood and fish dishes that are part of many Spanish dishes, including the region's famous paella. Experiment with new recipes in your new villa in the Costa Blanca and impress your friends with a tasty dinner.
