Throughout the Costa Blanca this mid-summer month is one of the busiest with tourists visiting from other parts of Spain as well as abroad to enjoy a holiday in the Mediterranean sun. For anyone who lives in the Costa Blanca whether permenantly or occasionally, it is worth joining in with the local festivities that are a true celebration of Spanish life and tradition. Altea hosts one of the most spectacular firework displays on the 2nd Saturday of the month known as the Castell de l’Olla fireworks. Large numbers of people will flock to Altea to witness this unique show of fireworks being launched from platforms in the Mediterranean Sea so get there early and remember that you might find some road closures and diversions slowing traffic in the area of the town. Homeownners in Javea will also be celebrating the Fiestas de Portixol during the second week of the month where residents organise wonderful parties in the port area with the backing of the local council. Later on in the month and leading us into September the Festes Mare de Déu de Loreta in honour of the Virgin of Loreta, the patron saint of the sea takes places. Religious ceremonies combine with colourful processions, sporting events and performances that embody the spirit of the community of Javea and it is always enjoyed by residents. Inland those who buy a home in Orba will be able to enjoy the villages tributes to their patron saint with ceremonies, music and all the ingredients that make up a Spanish Fiesta.
During the summer, whereever you live in the Costa Blanca, your evenings can if you wish be filled with music from live orchestras and bands in town squares from the traditional to cover bands, it is lovely to enjoy a dance with your friends and neighbours when the sun goes down and the air is fresher. Mobile discos willl also provide some of the music however, there are traditional music festivals taking place up and down the coast with candlelight concerts held in stunning locations with music ranging from Vivaldi to ABBA, these are often listed in local papers and on social media pages. Javea hosts its annual Jazz Festival and in Moraira and Teulada there will be concerts to celebrate the Voramar Street Jazz Festival
