What’s On In August | Costa Blanca Villas For Sale

August in the Costa Blanca

Costa Blanca is busy in August; tourists from all over the world and the Spanish cities flock to the coast to enjoy their summer holiday. Beaches are busier, restaurants perhaps more crowded and parking spaces less available than at other times of the year. However, it remains a glorious place to live and enjoy the livelier holiday atmosphere which is infectious.  You can find Costa Blanca Villas For Sale for a comfortable stay and the life of your dreams.

Fiestas and Fireworks

The parties and celebrations that begun in June continue through August as Spain enjoys their own traditional holiday period, exiting the cities to enjoy family time at the coast. In Altea the second Saturday in August is also something to note in your diary because this is when the Castell de l’Olla fireworks. This spectacular display draws thousands of people to this small coastal town every year so get there early and, if you are travelling that day, be aware that you could come across road closures with diversions and traffic jams. If you buy a villa in Altea get to the pebble beach early to claim a spot and bring a picnic with you, you will not be disappointed!!!

Calpe is also celebrating from the end of July and throughout the first half of August with the Fiesta de la Virgen de las Nieves, there is a full program of events including street parades, live music and the controversial running of the bulls. Those who buy property in Javea won’t be left out either, during the second week in August the Fiestas de Portixol take place in the port area and is a delightful community party organised by residents with the support of the town hall. There is music, local food and is the perfect opportunity to get together with your neighbours. At the end of August leading into September the Festes Mare de Déu de Loreta in honour of the Virgin of Loreta, the patron saint of the sea takes places. This is a major celebration in Javea and incorporates religious ceremonies with colourful processions, sporting events and performances that embody the spirit of Javea and its people.

Outdoor Activities

If you time your visit well, you can still enjoy time at the beach and there are enough of these on the Costa Blanca to be able to find a pleasant location to enjoy the sun and cool off in the sea. There will be plenty of water sports to join in with and most beaches will have a pleasing bar where you can cool off with a refreshing drink or an ice cream. Local markets are still worth a visit but, they will become crowded and hot once the tourists gather, you’re in a fortunate position living in the Costa Blanca to get there ahead of them during the earlier cooler part of the morning after which you can enjoy a coffee nearby as you watch the crowds gather.

With the visitors enjoy the coast you are also lucky to be able to do so throughout the year, therefore, for those who live in the Costa Blanca, this is a wonderful time to head inland to the cooler hills, mountains and water falls that we have so close by.

Evening Pastimes and Entertainment

The evening cools down pleasantly and if you live in the Costa Blanca, you may have adopted the Spanish habit of eating later in the evening. Cool down with a saunter in town or along the promenade, enjoy a cocktail and then enjoy an al fresco meal at one of the many restaurants. Alternatively, you can enjoy the cocktail and meal at home on the terrace of your own villa in the Costa Blanca and relish in and evening dip in your swimming pool. Music lovers will find that there are plenty of live performances to be enjoyed at local bars and restaurants and many Costa Blanca towns including Javea have an open-air cinema season on the beach, so take your blanket and popcorn and enjoy this summer tradition.

Costa Blanca Villas For Sale

It may be hotter and more crowded but, there are still numerous ways to enjoy how lucky we are to buy a home in the Costa Blanca and own part of this paradise that other people must wait to enjoy for just two weeks of their year. Stay cool and enjoy!!!
