What the Ex-Pat Community are Doing

Firstly the number of people choosing to live and work in the Costa Blanca is helping the economy greatly, no longer is it only something people dream of doing when they retire. There are plenty of Entrepreneurs starting their own businesses and with the digital nomad visas plenty of newcomers are able to continue their work while enjoying their new life in Spain. The international community has introduced new flavours to cuisine in the area and many restaurants are embracing this opportunity to provide a wider choice of menu. Javea celebrates this with the International Fesitval once a year where stalls from a large variety of nationalities are set up providing food and drink from their homeland. 

Charities and Fund Raising

Many of the local international community participates in charitable and fundraising events, including members of our own Hamiltons of London team and their families. Many support local Animal Rescue centres not just by raising fund but with donations and volunteering at the kennels and catteries to interact with the animals and help with cleaning, grooming and feeding. There are several well supported charity shops who are happy to receive donations and HELP Marina Alta assists those needing mobility supplies, transport to appointments if required, as well as with tranlation support at Denia hospital. Project4All helps the less fortunate in the local community with meals and supplies to make their life a little more comfortable.

Learning New Skills and Cultural Fusion

With so many nationalities coming together to make the Costa Blanca their home there are many new skills share and various clubs have formed to help with learning languages, this recipricol arrangement helps not only the new comers to learn Spanish but, the Spanish to learn some other languages too. Various craft and exercise classes have emerged in each community too and a lot of ex-pats embrace the local culture by helping to organise local festivities, some are not traditionally Spanish like Oktoberfest and Ugly Day which is a fund raising event in Moraira that takes place in November. This rich mix of cultures provides a wonderful atmosphere that celebrates our diversity but, unites us in our love for our home in the Costa Blanca.
