Townhouses often tick those boxes.
What catches many people out is how different they can be.
A townhouse in the centre of Teulada has very little in common with one on a modern urbanisation near Moraira or Javea.
Walk around some of the older streets in Teulada, Benissa or Jalon and you'll see properties that have been there for generations. Some look surprisingly small from the outside. Inside can be a different story altogether. Roof terraces, courtyards and extra floors often appear where you least expect them.
Many of these traditional townhouses have been updated over the years, while others still retain original features and plenty of character. Buyers looking for something with a bit of history are often drawn to this style of property.
Nearer the coast, townhouses are often part of residential developments. Shared gardens, swimming pools and parking are fairly common. Some owners spend a few weeks a year there. Others live in them permanently.
There isn't really a right answer.
We've met buyers who fell in love with a traditional townhouse within minutes of walking through the door. We've also met people who wanted something newer and easier to lock up when they travel.
Prices vary as much as the properties themselves. A traditional townhouse inland can offer a surprising amount of space for the money, while modern coastal homes close to beaches and amenities tend to command stronger prices.
One reason the Costa Blanca remains popular is that getting here is relatively straightforward. Alicante Airport serves much of the area, while buyers looking around Denia often find Valencia Airport just as convenient.
The interesting thing is that many buyers end up purchasing in places they weren't originally considering. That happens more often than people expect.
Someone may start by focusing entirely on Moraira, then discover they prefer Benissa Costa. Others arrive wanting to be close to the beach and eventually decide a traditional townhouse in a Spanish town suits them far better.
That is one of the advantages of viewing different locations before making a final decision. Every town has its own atmosphere, and sometimes the property that feels right is not the one that looked best online.
At Hamiltons Real Estate we help buyers search across the Costa Blanca, not just within one town. Alongside the properties listed on our website, we also offer a personal property finding service for those who would like a wider search.
