September is one of the loveliest times for those buying a Costa Blanca home! The days become a little cooler but, still pleasantly warm, there are fewer crowds on the beaches and in the towns but, there is still a lively atmosphere and there are local festivals to enjoy.
Those who live in or near to Javea can enjoy celebrating the towns patron saint of the sea with the festival of the Virgen de Loreta starting at the end of August and continuing until the 8th of September. The Fiesta is colourful and inclusive with celebrations including traditions, religious ceremonies, sports and plenty of family activities and, of course, music, dance, food and fireworks.
This is the time of year when the locally produced Moscatell wine has been celebrated and the Voramar Street Music Festival is in full swing until 12th September in both towns. Each evening during this fiesta musicians will delight audiences in a central location either in Moraira or Teulada. What could be more enjoyable than finding a table on the terrace of one of the wonderful local restaurants or bars and enjoying the wonderful music which includes Latin quartets and jazz bands and duos.
In the lovely town of Altea the 6th of September offers a celebration of music in the arts centre and later in the month hold their Moors and Christian festival with historical re-enactments on the beach, parades, spectacular costumes, music, food, wine and plenty of fireworks.
Wherever you choose to buy a home in the Costa Blanca you’re never far away from the party town of Benidorm where during September the town enjoys incredibly colourful parades and parties or the Pride festival. All are welcome to this festival organised by the local LGBTQ+ community.
This is the perfect time to enjoy the beaches and sea now that they are less crowded, perhaps participate in a water sport or just enjoy time to relax in the beautiful landscape of our adopted home in the Costa Blanca.
September is a great time to explore towns and villages near to your where you live in the Costa Blanca and enjoy days out visiting pretty seaside villages like Villajoysa or perhaps head into the hills to see Guadalest. Enjoy a trip to the bodegas of Jalon for a wine-tasting treat or, if you’re feeling energetic, participate in a guided walk up Calpe’s iconic rock of Ifach where you will see the most incredible views of the coastline. Walkers and cyclists will enjoy coastal walks including the eco route along the Benissa Costa or the hillside joys of the Sierra Bernia and Montgo natural parks.
September is a great time not just to enjoy the property you buy in the Costa Blanca but, also to enjoy the town you have chosen as home. At this time of year, you can get to know other people who live as your neighbours year-round meeting them at local restaurants, bars and events. Markets are less busy so it’s a great time to pick up a bargain or two including some new autumn outfits as well as fresh produce for your kitchen.
Those with families will see their children begin a new school year and why don’t you join them and enrol in a local class? There are plenty to choose from including Spanish lessons or something more active like Zumba or perhaps relax a yoga class. If you enjoy making things or have an artistic streak most towns will offer craft or art classes close by. If you enjoy getting up close to all that the Mediterranean has to offer you could enrol in a Scuba diving course. When you live in the Costa Blanca the worlds your oyster!
